Toronto’s New Year’s Eve tradition returns to Roy Thomson Hall on December 31st, 2013. Start off your New Year’s celebrations with a can’t-miss concert of crowd-pleasing arias and choruses. Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s birth with excerpts from La Traviata, Rigoletto and Aida, as well as works by Puccini, Rossini, Offenbach and more. The international cast includes 100 voices from Orpheus Choir and Chorus Niagara (Robert Cooper, artistic director), Erika Sunnegårdh (following her acclaimed performance in the title role in Salome with the Canadian Opera Company), Canadian mezzo-soprano Wallis Giunta and Italian rising star Emanuele D’Aguanno.
Enjoy this can’t miss-collection of excerpts from beloved operas throughout history. The concert will take you through stories of romance, adventure and comedy, all before 9 p.m., leaving you time to continue your New Year's Eve celebrations.
